Nothing really. It was initially a portmanteau of “pepper” and “relish”. Then Tim searched the internet to see if it means anything, but nothing really popped up.

Where in NYC are you located?

If you’re asking if we have a retail location or our own manufacturing facility, no, we don’t. However, the commercial kitchen we work out of is in Long Island City in the borough of Queens.

When did Pepplish start?

Officially, according to the IRS, August 4, 2015. However, we didn’t start production until November 2016.

Why hot sauce?

Why not?[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”About Our Sauces” el_id=”1554847191056-fe1f0f89-43d2″]Which peppers do you use in your sauces?

Habaneros for flavor and ghost peppers (bhut jolokia) to kick up the heat. The Mango also has Carolina Reapers added to it to bump up that heat.

What’s fair trade?

Fair trade is a certification similar to Organic or Kosher. It certifies that producers are compensating their employees fairly for the work they provide.

Why do you add sweeteners to your sauces?

We find that sauces without some sort of sweetener, its flavor falls flat kinda quickly. Also, there is a big presence of fair trade organizations in the sweetener industry, so we’re more than willing to put our money towards those trying to improve the lives of others.

What’s up with these fruits?

We like fruits and we believe there are awesome flavor profiles that are somewhat unique yet have a hint of familiarity.

Are your sauces vegan?

They’re not vegan certified, but they are not made with animals products. Yes, even the sugar. We use cane sugar, which is evaporated cane juice, and not beet sugar processed with bone char. We’re thinking about getting it certified in the future, we’ll see.

Do you ferment your sauces?

Only the Mango.

Do you make a sauce that is more mild?

No, we make hot sauce, not mild sauce. Jokes aside, we are tossing up an idea of creating one, but it will be labeled “mild sauce”.

What do these numbers mean on the sauces?

They are the order in which we came up with them. Cool, huh? Well, only a little, I guess.

Do the label colors have an significance?
